Dive Brief:
- At Home’s Chief Executive Officer Brad Weston will retire from the position at the end of June, according to a company press release Friday. He will step into an advisory position afterwards to support a transition.
- The retailer’s board of directors has initiated a search for Weston’s replacement.
- Aaron Rose has been promoted to president, adding to his existing title of chief commercial officer. Rose joined At Home as chief commercial officer in January of 2025 after most recently serving in leadership roles at Banana Republic.
Dive Insight:
Weston is exiting At Home after leading the home retailer through Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in 2025.
“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Brad for his leadership during a critical and transformative period for At Home,” Chairman of the Board John Eck said in a statement. “Under his guidance, the Company strengthened its foundation, established a clear strategic direction, and positioned the business for long-term growth. We are confident in the Company’s strategy, leadership team, and the opportunities ahead.”
The retailer’s bankruptcy last year was blamed in part on consumer uncertainty and heightened tariff rates, with the company sourcing about 90% of its products from overseas. Weston joined At Home as CEO in 2024 after serving in the same role at Party City Holdings and Petco.
At Home emerged from bankruptcy in the fall with about $2 billion in debt eliminated and new ownership under a group of lenders.
Meanwhile, Rose’s expanded role as president means he will oversee the retailer’s operations, inclusive of merchandising, digital, store operations, marketing, sourcing, planning, and supply chain.
“We continue forward with a focus on elevating the At Home brand and strengthening our connection with customers,” Rose said in a statement. “By taking decisive action to drive relevance and inspiration, we are anchoring our strategy in differentiated product, compelling value, and an enhanced experience that helps customers express themselves and reflect how they want to live.”
