The Brand House Collective — which Bed Bath & Beyond acquired earlier this year — is permanently closing an office in Brentwood, Tennessee. The office closure at 5310 Maryland Way in Brentwood, Tennessee, will impact 88 workers in total, according to a company Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the state on May 1.
The permanent closure is effective July 4 and Sept. 30, per the notice. The location had been listed on the company’s previous U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s filings as the address of principal executive offices.
The Brand House Collective and Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. did not immediately respond to Retail Dive’s request for comment.
The Brand House Collective (formerly Kirkland’s Home) formally merged with Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. in April, following more than a year of growing its complex business relationship. Amy Sullivan — who comes from the Kirkland’s Home brand originally — was named as the president of the Bed Bath & Beyond parent company, overseeing the retail brands including Overstock.com, Bed Bath and Beyond, The Container Store, Kirkland’s and BuyBuy Baby.
The closure also follows Bed Bath & Beyond Inc.’s announcements in April to acquire The Container Store for about $150 million and the parent company of Cabinets To Go for around the same price.
Marcus Lemonis, CEO of Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., warned on an earnings call with analysts in April that the company’s adoption of AI would lead to significant job cuts.
The Brand House Collective's net sales for the period ending Jan. 31 fell about 10% year over year to $395.8 million, per a consolidated balance sheet filed by Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. on Friday, The Brand House Collective’s operating loss grew 183% to about $39.7 million and net loss worsened, increasing 98% to $45.9 million.
