- As one of several executive changes, Beautycounter’s Board Director Mindy Mackenzie has been appointed interim chief executive officer, effective immediately, according to a company press release Wednesday. The board will conduct a search to find a permanent CEO.
- Mackenzie succeeds Marc Rey, who has decided along with the board to transition the brand “to a new phase of leadership for Beautycounter.” Rey was CEO of the beauty brand since February 2022.
- Beautycounter also appointed Nicole Malozi — who previously worked at Tatcha and Nike — as its new chief financial officer, succeeding Zach Shuler. Additionally, former Executive Chair and Group CEO of Natura & Co Roberto Marques has joined Beautycounter’s board of directors as chair.

Beautycounter’s latest executive shuffle is meant to jumpstart a new phase for the brand.

Mackenzie joins Beautycounter after most recently acting as partner and chief performance officer at Carlyle. Prior to that, she worked at McKinsey, Jim Beam, Walmart and Campbell Soup.
Beautycounter launched in 2013 and sells beauty products including makeup and skin care. The omnichannel brand calls itself a leader in clean beauty and sells online, through company stores and via “brand advocates.”
In February, Beautycounter started selling through mass retailer Ulta Beauty both in stores and online. Beautycounter is included in Ulta’s Conscious Beauty category showcasing brands “featuring clean ingredients that are cruelty free and sustainably packaged.”
