The new Perfect Corp. "YouCam for Web" allows consumers to browse and test what cosmetic products would look like using augmented reality tools, according to a company press release.
Small and midsize businesses can use the Perfect Console, a private tracking dashboard for managing analytics to integrate AR virtual product testing for their website, per the release.
More than 200 brands currently use the Perfect Corp. augmented reality technology. The company notes that brands can use the YouCam's virtual makeup try-on technology to increase user engagement, click-through rates, sales conversions for e-commerce and possibly decrease returns.
The YouCam for Web platform could even the playing field between major cosmetics companies and up-and-comers.
It is the latest Perfect Corp. tool attempt to lure more beauty brands into artificial intelligence and augmented reality. The brand already boasts major players such as Estee Lauder, MAC and YSL on its YouCamp platform. Aside from the high-end beauty brands, Perfect Corp. has also partnered with more accessible retailers and brands, including Target and QVC, and introduced features like live streaming.
The potential benefit from a tool like this is allowing consumers to evaluate products before purchasing. Additionally, it may slow down the cycle of buying, testing and returning products, which can weigh on beauty retailers' supply chains.
"SaaS is the way of the future and YouCam for Web helps to cater to the growing needs of beauty tech solutions across all budgets," Perfect Corp. CEO and Founder Alice Chang said in a statement.
Perfect Corp will demonstrate the YouCam for Web platform at Cosmoprof North America in Las Vegas, Nevada, from July 28-30.
