Dive Insight:
Years after emerging from bankruptcy, Jos. A. Bank’s parent company is plotting its brick-and-mortar buildout.
In 2020, Tailored Brands, the parent company of Jos. A. Bank, Men’s Wearhouse, Moores and K&G, eliminated $686 million in debt following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. After spending decades as a publicly traded company, the clothing conglomerate is now owned by its creditors.
But Tailored Brands has been inching toward rejoining the stock market and mapping out its physical store expansion.
In July, Tailored Brands filed an S-1 registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering. In that filing, the company extolled its progress on its turnaround strategy. Using machine learning models, customer data, performance data from its current locations and other data points, the company decided it will grow its fleet to roughly 200 Jos. A. Bank stores, 50 K&G locations and 250 Men’s Warehouse storefronts.
As for its newest concept in Georgia, Jos. A. Bank designed the store using customer research to guide the layout, merchandising, available services and navigation, the company said.
“This store represents an exciting evolution for Jos. A. Bank,” Karla Gray, chief operating officer of Tailored Brands, said in a statement. “We've taken what customers have always valued about the brand — quality, craftsmanship and personal service — and brought those strengths forward in a fresh, modern way. The result feels distinctly Jos. A. Bank, while reflecting where the brand is going.”
Tailored Brands has also made a series of new executive hires. In February 2025, the company brought on Whit Alexander as its chief customer officer, who had prior experience at Best Buy, Target and McKinsey and Company. Months later, the apparel company named John Tighe as its new CEO, succeeding the previous chief executive Peter Sachse.
Continuing its C-suite hiring streak, Tailored Brands appointed Mike Baughn as its CFO and promoted Gray to COO last November. While Baughn held previous positions at Kohl’s and Foot Locker, Gray recently served as the vice president and general manager of North American Factory Stores at Nike, according to a November 2025 press release.
