Deepening their partnership, Best Buy recently opened consultation spaces at two Ikea locations. Customers can now access select Best Buy services within the Ikea planning stations at both stores located in Frisco, Texas, and Tampa, Florida, according to details Best Buy shared with Retail Dive.
Best Buy Blue Shirt employees are on site to speak with shoppers about appliance and technology options as they plan out updates or remodels to their kitchen spaces. The employees can also place Best Buy orders and coordinate delivery and installation for customers without leaving the Ikea store.
The move flips around an existing partnership between the retailers, wherein Ikea’s U.S. business has shop-in-shop kitchen and storage planning services inside select Best Buy locations. The Ikea at Best Buy shop-in-shops, which span 1,000 square feet, were first piloted in 2025 at 10 stores.
“By bringing together our home furnishing expertise, products, and services with Best Buy’s leadership in appliances and technology, we’re creating a one-stop destination where customers can design their dream kitchen, storage solutions or laundry space with ease,” Ikea U.S. Chief Operations Officer Rob Olson said in a statement in July.
Ikea U.S. is also expanding and refining its store fleet in 2026 with 10 new locations, including its first city-center store in Los Angeles and its first location in Oklahoma. The home retailer in February also announced the closure of its Memphis, Tennessee, store as part of a broader evaluation of its fleet.
Change is brewing more broadly at Best Buy, with CEO Corie Barry in April announcing her exit effective Oct. 31 as the company’s net earnings and revenue have stagnated in recent years. Jason Bonfig, longtime Best Buy employee and current chief customer, product and fulfillment officer, will take over the chief executive role.
