Belk is going smaller with its new store concept.
The department store will offer a curated assortment of national and private brands at the stores, along with a unique selection of products tailored to its new Belk Market locations.
The concept is launching with two locations: one in Wesley Chapel, Florida, and the other in Frisco, Texas. Grand openings for both locations will take place on Dec. 13. The stores range from 25,000 to 30,000 square feet.
Belk will add additional locations next year, according to a company spokesperson.
"We know our customers come to us for the brands and products they trust, and we're always looking for new ways to match our shoppers' needs," CEO Don Hendricks said in a statement. "At the Belk Market, customers will enjoy an easy-to-shop layout, fresh new merchandise and the value and quality they've come to expect from us.”
Customers can shop items from across men’s, women’s and kids apparel, along with shoes, handbags, accessories, home decor and jewelry.
Belk also has outlet stores. The first one launched in 2023 in Greeneville, Tennessee, and the department store then accelerated the concept’s footprint.
Other department stores have piloted smaller footprints. Bloomingdale’s revealed its concept store, Bloomies, in 2021, which it quickly expanded.
