Charge Anywhere launches BlackBerry Storm2 payment service

The service is available for download through BlackBerry App World and at Charge Anywhere’s Web site. The new mobile payment service uses the Storm2’s touch screen for electronic signature capture.

“Charge Anywhere is in the business of empowering mobile card payments anywhere, any time,” said Dmitriy Lerman, director of marketing programs and products at Charge Anywhere, South Plainfield, NJ. “Part of our promise is enabling payments on smartphone platforms that our customers want to use.”

Charge Anywhere is the developer of mobile payment and point-of-sale software services.

The company has payment applications on smartphones such as RIM’s BlackBerry, Microsoft’s Windows Mobile, Google’s Android and J2ME.

Mr. Lerman said that his company’s services extend the reach of mobile payments, while lowering processing fees by enabling swiped rates with an optional Bluetooth card reader and receipt printer.

When using a BlackBerry Storm2, Bluetooth card reader and receipt printer, sales receipts can be printed at the point-of-sale.

The device’s touch screen enables electronic signature capture, eliminating the need for merchants to retain paper copies of signed receipts.

Charge Anywhere’s mobile payment solution is highly scalable, Mr. Lerman said. The scalability makes it appropriate for large enterprise, he said.

But, Mr. Lerman said that the price point makes it right for the small and medium-sized business segment.

Charge Anywhere recently launched a payment application for Google’s Android phones.

The company claims that it is the first secure mobile payment application for Android phones. Charge Anywhere also said that it is the first PCI PA-DSS validated application for the platform (see story).

Mr. Lerman said this new platform fulfills an unmet market need.

“Charge Anywhere makes commerce mobile in two ways,” Mr. Lerman said. “First, the mobile card payment solution enables secure real-time credit card payments in the field.

“Second, Charge Anywhere makes mobile credit card acceptance affordable, while ensuring iron-clad enterprise-level PCI security,” he said.
