Dive Insight:
Goldman’s appointment as president comes as Sur La Table focuses on future growth.
“Dan’s hire is one of the most important leadership decisions we’ve made as part of our aggressive growth strategy,” Voloshin said in a statement. “As we continue to achieve our bold objectives and execute against a multi-year brand plan, we identified a leader with the rare ability to bridge vision and action. Dan’s expertise in brand storytelling and operations, alongside his team-first mindset, makes him exactly the right person to help bring our ambitious vision to life.”
Sur La Table filed for bankruptcy in July 2020 with plans to sell itself, which it did in August of that year by selling to Marquee Brands and CSC Generation for nearly $90 million.
Since then, the company has been focused on revitalizing the brand. It launched a private label tableware line in 2022, added new stores, revamped its in-store and online cooking classes, and this year acquired coffee equipment retailer, Seattle Coffee Gear. It also brought on a new chief marketing officer in Elton Graham, who previously had leadership roles with Gorjana, Glossier, Savage X Fenty and Amazon.
