Target and Walmart have never really been the same. Their merchandise mix, branding, pricing and everything in between have always varied from each other. Yet, both retailers found themselves being compared after bringing on new CEOs at the beginning of February following a decade of consistent chief executive leadership.
The executive shuffle comes as the companies face vastly different performance states. Target is in need of a successful turnaround to reverse declining sales while Walmart is looking to further its continued success in the AI era.
On the latest episode of The Backroom, Retail Dive reporters Dani James and Daphne Howland break down the similarities and differences between Walmart and Target as they usher in new leadership.
