Michaels is expanding an experiential store model to a third location in Rogers, Arkansas, according to a Thursday press release. The first two locations were opened in Easton, Ohio, and Irving, Texas.
The refreshed store experience includes Michaels Knit & Sew Shop — first launched in 2025 after Michaels’ acquisition of Joann’s IP — now located prominently at the front of the store. Expanded framing and personalization services include newly added embroidery, engraving and made-to-order sticker options.
An updated Welcome Center at the front of the store includes staffers to greet customers and there is a dedicated queue for Michaels Rewards members to access self-checkouts.
The new spaces also include a unified florals and greenery department, a new Pinterest Trend Bar showcasing products connected to viral creative trends, and more.
"Our new stores represent an exciting milestone within Michaels' broader transformation to redefine the customer journey and become a true destination for creativity and celebration," David Boone, CEO of Michaels, said in a statement. "The new format reflects our customers' desire for more inspiration and hands-on, analog experiences, while providing a space for the local community to connect, create, and celebrate."
The new model allows the retailer to pilot “key elements that will eventually roll out to shoppers at all stores,” per the release. Michaels plans to open additional concept stores throughout 2026.
The revamped stores also include Michaels’ party shop space, which first debuted in 2025 as a competitor in the balloon and party decor arena following Party City's bankruptcy earlier in the year.
