James Schisler, chief operating officer at The Brand House Collective — formerly Kirkland’s Inc. — is exiting the position on March 20.
Schisler started the position about nine months ago. The retail company did not immediately respond to Retail Dive’s request for comment on its COO replacement plans.
The executive informed the company of his intent to resign on Wednesday in order to pursue other opportunities, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Comission. The company and executive had no disagreements, per the filing.
The Brand House Collective is a “multi-brand merchandising, supply chain and retail operator” managing the Kirkland's Home, Bed Bath & Beyond Home, Bed Bath & Beyond, BuyBuy Baby and Overstock portfolio of retail brands.
The retail company is in the process of being acquired by Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. following more than a year of the companies working together through a complex and rapidly evolving partnership. The acquisition implies an equity value of about $26.8 million, including the stock Bed Bath & Beyond already holds, and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.
Schisler joined The Brand House Collective in June of 2025, when the company was still formally named Kirkland’s Inc. The company announced its rebrand later that month, highlighting a slate of corporate hires such as Schisler’s in relation to its broader strategy.
Schisler had brought leadership experience from retail brands such as Richer Poorer, UpWest and Express.
