TurboTax lets consumers prepare, file taxes via iPad app

The company rolled out the TurboTax application due to the ever-growing number of people relying on their mobile devices. The application is available in Apple’s App Store for free download.

“The new app extends the reach and choices taxpayers have to use TurboTax,” said Colleen Gatlin, spokeswoman for Intuit, San Diego. “The app is designed for a new or existing customer that wants the option to use the device of their choice, in this case their iPad.

“It allows them to prepare and e-file their taxes on a device they love,” she said. “By leveraging existing TurboTax connected services, this platform offers customers another end-to-end solution for using TurboTax.

“The new app combines the ease and accuracy of TurboTax with the convenience and portability of the iPad. In addition, for iPad users, it is a familiar environment, so navigating is easy and there are options to use in portrait or landscape views.”

Intuit provides business and financial management solutions for small and mid-sized businesses, financial institutions, including banks and credit unions, consumers and accounting professionals.

Mobile taxes
Consumers can file their taxes in landscape or portrait view and the application guides them step-by-step through their return to their maximum refund.

Customers can file their return directly via the application and get a refund with direct deposit.

Additionally, after filing, consumers can check the status of their federal tax refund.

“Mobile is part of a broader Intuit strategy, which is to understand the ways that people use and interact with their mobile devices – tablets and other platforms,” Ms. Gatlin said. “Intuit continues to focus and explore innovative, easy solutions in mobile to help individuals and small business with their financial needs.”

The application is available for free and consumers can pay when they are finished filing their taxes.

Customers can begin in TurboTax Deluxe for $29.99 and based on their tax situation choose other features such as TurboTax Premier or TurboTax Home & Business for an additional cost.

“People are relying on their mobile devices more than ever for everyday tasks like shopping, paying bills or even taking credit card payments, all from the palm of their hand,” Ms. Gatlin said. “Why not be able to do your taxes too?

“The apps from TurboTax provide taxpayers with easy options from preparing, estimating or filing their taxes, to tracking for a tax refund, right from their mobile devices,” she said. “Since customers don’t need to be connected all the time, they can work on their taxes whenever and wherever they want to.

“Mobile provides a great way to do that.”
