Physicians Mutual integrates services from ScriptSave mobile app

Physicians Mutual is giving its clients more control over their health insurance information by migrating its services to a new and enhanced mobile application to keep up with the new way of prescription management set on from major pharmacies.

The app is provided by ScriptSave, a partner of Physicians Mutual for many years, and allows customers to browse prescriptions at local pharmacies, find discounted prescriptions and have access to direct pharmacist support, all through a mobile app. The move is an attempt to catch up on some of the biggest names in the health industry, including Walgreens, which uses mobile for its prescriptions and other similar needs.

“We deeply value our partnership with Physicians Mutual and we are excited to be able to provide them our innovative and robust product. A value-added program, like ScriptSave WellRx, can help attract new customers and maintain loyalty with current customers,”said Marcus Sredzinski, chief operating officer for ScriptSave.

Mobile health care
Among the many industries disrupted by the introduction of mobile apps to everyday life, including retail and travel, one that gets less recognition is the health industry.

But just like retail, healthcare has seen a mobile revolution of comparable size and significance.

While many customers are beginning to do all of their banking through their mobile devices, so are they also beginning to handle their healthcare needs – especially finding prescriptions – through their mobile device.

Many companies are taking advantage of this, introducing mobile solutions to help make managing those needs easier.

The latest is Physicians Mutual. The insurance company has for a long time been partnered with ScriptSave to help organize and find discounts on customers’ prescriptions.

Now that ScriptSave has introduced a mobile app, Physicians Mutual is working to bring the services provided by the app to its customers.

From the ScriptSave app, consumers can get discounts on prescriptions as well as browse and compare prices from different local pharmacies..

The app can also connect consumers directly with a pharmacist for support and education surrounding prescriptions.

ScriptSave app
By moving its services to a mobile app, ScriptSave is helping to shift the entire health industry towards a more mobile-friendly direction.

This move is not just meant to make things easier for customers – it is also an attempt to edge up on the peripheries of some of the biggest names in pharmaceutical retail that currently dominate the industry, such as Walgreens.

Walgreens has many programs in place that help connect customers to their pharmacies on mobile. For example, late last year the company announced a mobile skincare initiative that put customers in contact with professional dermatologists for evaluations and recommendations (see story).

CVS has also made mobile a priority in its pharmacy strategy. The drugstore chain has introduced mobile-enhance curbside pick up that lets consumers order their prescriptions online or through mobile and pick them up outside the store from their car (see story).

Now, Physicians Mutual is joining the fray with this enhanced partnership with ScriptSave. Together, the company is doing its part to continue to usher mobile into the healthcare world.

“We look forward to sharing other upcoming ScriptSave solutions with Physicians Mutual in the near future,” Mr. Sredzinski said.
