Wholesalers are turning to the web en masse, according to a survey form TradeGecko Pte., Ltd., an e-commerce software provider based in Singapore. Some 41% of business-to-business sellers say that e-commerce is now their leading sales channel, up from 31% in 2014, and 24% plan to add online sales capabilities in 2015, including proprietary e-commerce sites and third-party sellers.
Coming in second in sales were field sales staff, responsible for 21% of sales this year (down from 24% in 2014), and Resellers and Partners, which brought in 19% of revenues this year, up from 17% in 2014. Interestingly, more than a third (37%) of the more than 200 wholesalers surveyed say they plan to cut out the middleman and develop business-to-consumer e-commerce sales this year.
