H&M’s U.S. business expects to lay off 76 employees at its New York City corporate office starting Sept. 4, according to a WARN notice filed with New York state.
The notice — dated June 5 and posted to the state’s public dashboard on Wednesday — pertains to the 11th floor of 110 5th Avenue, where 246 total employees work.
"We continuously evolve our business to meet a changing customer landscape, regularly reviewing how we operate to stay flexible, efficient, and fast-moving,” H&M said in a statement shared with Retail Dive. “This includes changes to roles and team structures across the organization. We recognize the impact these decisions have on our colleagues and do not take them lightly. Our priority is supporting our people with care, resources, and guidance throughout this transition."
The fashion retailer did not answer Retail Dive’s question about what types of roles are most affected or give specifics on severance and other benefits.
H&M also filed a WARN notice with Illinois earlier this year for a layoff in Chicago impacting 181 employees starting in May.
