Article joins a lengthy line of retailers and brands offering installment payments to their customers via Klarna and its competitors.
“Furniture is one of the most considered purchases consumers make online, and flexibility matters,” Steven Clarke, head of Klarna Canada, said in a statement. “By partnering with Article, we’re meeting consumers at the moment they’re making meaningful investments in their homes, while continuing to expand Klarna’s momentum in the furniture category.”
The home sector has struggled to find steady ground since the pandemic. Tariffs imposed by the U.S. hurt home good sales at the end of 2025, with the category dropping 3.7% year over year in December. However, there are signs of an upswing for particular retailers, with Bob’s Discount Furniture and Ikea opening stores, and Bob’s going on to file an IPO at the start of this year. Another DTC furniture player, Wayfair, recently recorded its first annual revenue gain since 2020, with total revenue increasing 5.1% year over year in 2025.
Last March, Walmart replaced Affirm with Klarna as its exclusive provider of installment loans. Months later, Gap Inc. introduced Klarna’s payment services across all its brands, including Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and Athleta.
Earlier this month, Wayfair expanded its partnership with Affirm to offer BNPL options to its customers in the U.K. and Canada.
