• Many Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment titles are currently not available for preorder on Amazon.com.

• Earlier this year, until some time in June, Warner Bros. home video titles were also unavailable through Amazon while the companies negotiated a distribution agreement.

• Amazon is locked in a dispute with Hachette Book Group, and has similarly removed the ability to preorder many Hachette titles, a situation that has writers fighting back and asking their readers to join them.

Amazon apparently is using interference with its customers’ ability to order — or at least pre-order — products from certain companies as a preferred negotiating tactic. While Amazon's dispute with Warner Bros. earlier this summer was more quietly resolved, the Hachette fight is getting ugly. ​Neither Walt Disney nor Amazon have commented on this. But it remains a curious and uniquely customer-unfriendly approach.
