After a spring announcement that Prime Day was moving back to June, the e-commerce company revealed on Monday that it will run for four days, from June 23 to June 26.
In recent years the members-only event has been held in July, with last year’s sale running for four days for the first time.
The event is coming at a time when consumer confidence is dragging as the price of gasoline and other goods goes up, according to the Conference Board. As a result, households are cutting spending. Fifty-seven percent of consumers in May said that high prices are eroding their finances, according to the University of Michigan.
In a move that may be indicitive of the current economic environment, Amazon is also hosting a sweepsteakes wherein customers can win free groceries for a year. To qualify, shoppers must spend $15 or more on a qualifying online grocery order. There will be 100 winners, for a total of $1 million for the giveaway. Winners will be announced weekly leading up to Prime Day.
The event is forecast to be successful, according to experts. “Prime Day 2026 is set to deliver Amazon another win,” Emarketer principal analyst Sky Canaves said in emailed comments.
“Emarketer expects Amazon’s US sales to rise 7.1% during the four-day event, compared to 6.0% growth for non-Amazon online sales during this period,” Canaves said. “As a result, Amazon’s share of total US ecommerce sales during Prime Day 2026 will reach 60.3%, the highest since 2019."
Deals this year are across more than 35 categories, including apparel, beauty, kitchen, home and electronics. Some early deals are already available across categories.
The company is also bringing back its “Today’s Big Deal” section, which was first introduced in 2025. Deals drop three times a day, featuring five or more products with price cuts of up to 50% off.
The e-commerce giant is encouraging Prime members to utilize its Alexa for Shopping AI technology to receive personalized deal guides based on their shopping history and preferences. Customers can also set up deal and price alerts, along with auto-buy.
Amazon announced last month that Alexa for Shopping would take over the Rufus AI shopping assistant’s functions. Now, when customers type a question into the Amazon Shopping app’s search bar, Alexa for Shopping automatically provides an answer. Traditional search functions also remain.
“The newly rebranded Alexa for Shopping is poised to play a prominent role across Prime Day shopping,” Canaves said. “Amazon is seizing the opportunity to put its upgraded AI shopping assistant in front of a captive audience of bargain-hunters, and introduce them to using Alexa for Shopping to surface relevant deals with the hope that they ultimately spend more over the course of the four days.”
In its latest earnings, Amazon online store net sales grew 12% year over year to about $64.3 billion. Third-party seller services grew 14% to $41.6 billion, while subscription services jumped 15% to $13.4 billion.
Amazon Prime Day first launched in 2015.
