Retailer Magic Beans improves in-store experience with mobile

The promotion takes full advantage of the recently launched iPhone application, powered by AisleBuyer, which allows customers to scan items in a Magic Beans store and immediately purchase them via their smartphone without waiting in line.

“Magic Beans is using mobile to improve the in-store experience for their customers,” said Shannon DiGregorio, a spokeswoman at AisleBuyer, Boston.

“By offering their customers all the benefits of online shopping, combined with the satisfaction of getting to take their items home immediately, Magic Beans strives to create the perfect mix of bricks and clicks commerce for their tech-savvy clientele,” she said.

Any winning discount is automatically applied to their purchase price, and the final total is charged to the credit card they’ve enter via a secure connection.

Customer using the application to checkout in-store is automatically entered to win one of several prizes, ranging from $1.00 off their current purchase to winning their entire shopping cart for just .99¢.

In-store experience
The Magic Beans application allows shoppers to scan items in a store, review pricing, access ratings and reviews and checkout using a secure connection via their smartphone.

Magic Beans can also provide coupons and link together frequently purchased items with offers for their customers.

Additionally, Magic Beans can send push notifications to their customers via the application, alerting them to special events and exclusive discounts.

Interested users can test the application and enter to win at all Boston-area Magic Beans locations in Brookline, Cambridge, Wellesley and Hingham.

Magic Beans serves a diverse population of buyers such as busy parents, gift-buyers in need of guidance and education, and most importantly, kids.

“By offering a mobile checkout option Magic Beans improves shopping for every member of their audience – saving time, providing education, offering highly targeted special offers and making in-store shopping a more fun and dynamic experience,” Ms. DiGregorio said.
