Operand Inc, a Silicon Valley technology company, known for their big swings against McKinsey, Bain, and BCG, has released a new agent built for competitor price intelligence.
The agent (“Scout”) stays up 24/7 scanning competitor product pages, matching equivalents to your catalog and identifying where you are not competitive or being undercut.
By mimicking a standard human browsing, Operand’s agents work on any website on the internet.
The agents alert the appropriate merchandising manager within moments of the price undercut’s discovery.
How it works:
- Always-on: Agents gather publicly available pricing, promotions, and availability from competitor PDPs and category pages. Each agent can collect tens of thousands of product prices per minute.
- AI SKU matching: AI models look at product images and descriptions—just like a human would—to map rival items to your SKUs with confidence scores. Through a collaboration with OpenAI, Operand custom trains their agents on each client's merchandising logic.
- Benchmarking & gaps: Dashboards quantify price gaps by brand, category, and channel.
- Alerts & workflows: Threshold-based alerts land in Slack/Teams and email.
- Works on any website: Operand’s agents behave just like humans, scrolling and browsing.
- MAP violations: Monitor prices for your products to flag violations, or, if you’re a retailer, snitch on your competitors who violate MAP.
