Order fulfilment technology and services specialist, fulfilmentcrowd, has reported a significant increase in client sales over the Black Friday weekend.
Reflecting a stellar year, during which the Chorley-based provider won more than 100 new contracts, parcel volumes on Black Friday were 60% up on 2017.
Signalling a shift in buying habits, Cyber Monday outperformed its better-known sibling by more a third, with trading 99% higher than the same day last year.
Market research conducted by fulfilmentcrowd indicates that increasingly-savvy consumers are often cynical about the deals on offer and delaying purchase in expectation of higher discounts over the course of the weekend as online retailers try to clear their stocks.
fulfilmentcrowd sales & marketing director, Lee Thompson, said: “We work with our clients to forecast activity during peak and I think it is fair to say that we have easily exceeded those numbers in 2018.
“Our five centres are working at full-tilt to maintain industry-leading service levels and clients are reporting stock-outs on many lines. Therefore, I would caution against consumers delaying purchase for too long as it is very possible they may be disappointed to find items are unavailable.”
