Dive Insight:
Homecourt, which launched in 2022, is looking to grow with fresh capital in hand.
"I am unbelievably excited to take this business to the next level,” Cox said in a statement. “Homecourt is my greatest passion, and bringing on a strategic investment partner like Cult means we can become the global household name I know we can be.”
Homecourt began as a DTC brand and has since added wholesale through more than 300 retail outlets, including Nordstrom, Bluemercury, Revolve and Amazon.
The brand’s products range from candles, surface cleaners and room deodorants, to perfume oils, body washes and laundry care.
“With less than 5 full-time employees, we've doubled the business every year and built a cult brand that's defining a new category in the beauty industry," CEO and co-founder Sarah Jahnke said in a statement. "This fundraise gives us the resources to accelerate our impact and scale our category leadership."
Celebrity-backed brands have proliferated in the past several years with many of them coming from the beauty category. Jennifer Anniston launched hair care brand Lolavie in 2021 and expanded into Ulta Beauty two years later. Actor and producer Mindy Kaling backed skin care brand Lion Pose debuted in Sephora in 2023. And E.l.f. Beauty acquired model Hailey Bieber’s Rhode earlier this year for $1 billion.
