Bath & Body Works has brought on former Bluemercury CEO Maly Bernstein as its chief commercial officer. The position is new for the retailer.
The appointment is effective as of Nov. 12, when Bernstein will become part of the company’s executive leadership team, according to a press release.
“Maly brings proven elevated multi-channel retail leadership, delivering distinctive consumer experiences and growth across all channels,” Bath & Body Works CEO Daniel Heaf, who joined the company this past spring after a six-year tenure at Nike, said in a statement.
Bernstein stepped down as chief executive of Macy’s, Inc.-owned Bluemercury at the end of September after four years at the helm. She previously worked at CVS Health and earlier in her career was an associate principal at McKinsey & Company.
“Bath & Body Works is an iconic brand with an extraordinary connection to its customers,” Bernstein said in a statement. “I’m excited to create compelling retail experiences for our consumers across the marketplace and in all the ways they shop, while also delivering strong performance for the company.”
Bath & Body Works also announced the appointment of Samantha Charleston as its chief human resources officer. She joins the retailer from Americold.
This year, the personal care and home fragrance retailer introduced a new store design, dubbed Gingham+, that features an updated layout, larger aisles, technology features and scent bars in select locations as a way to reach more Gen Z shoppers. The retailer is also reaching the generation by bringing some of its top-selling products to 600 college campus stores across the country.
In its latest earnings, the company reported net sales were up 1.5% year over year to $1.5 billion. Net income was down nearly 58% to $64 million. The retailer’s focus is on elevating its digital experience, amplifying its product efficacy and expanding its distribution network, per Heaf.
