Dell introduces suite of mobile apps to drive mcommerce growth
According to the company, enterprises across industries such as healthcare, financial services and retail are using its mobile app services. This latest effort from the company is to build up its mobile commerce presence.
“Customers are looking at mobility for better customer engagement, additional revenue, employee engagement and productivity across B2B, B2C, B2E functions,” said Corie Pierce, a spokeswoman for Dell.
“We have built a comprehensive portfolio that includes consulting services to help enterprises build application roadmaps and to help them implement their mobile strategies,” she said. “Our strategy is to take a consultative/services approach to help our customers deploy mobility across their organizations.
“We take a vertical approach to emerging techs to take advantage of our deep vertical expertise. And we take a solutions approach, meaning we proactively go to the customer with a solution based on what we know about the customer and the vertical industry.”
The Dell enterprise mobility app portfolio includes mobility strategy consulting, multi-platform app development, mobile business intelligence and mobile testing.
With the new offerings newest offering, enterprises can get in-depth analysis and formal recommendations for apps, which can be managed internally or implemented by Dell.
Furthermore, there is mobile app development and testing to provide custom apps and help ensure reliability across various platforms, including iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Windows 8.
The new suite of apps also includes app management and mobile device services that enable IT to manage apps and devices, designed to ensure data security at every step of the process.
“We have been working with a number of customers already,” Ms. Pierce said. “We are also working with the larger Dell workforce to empower them to sell these services to existing customers who can benefit from them, based on what we know about our existing relationships with those enterprises.
Dell is no stranger to mobile.
In 2011, the company rolled out an iPhone app that served as a one-stop shopping, tracking and support tool for consumers (see story).
Most recently, Dell placed big bets on mobile Web revenue with two different initiatives that promoted Black Friday deals and let users shop from their handsets (see story).
“These application-focused services announced today complement the complete and expanding suite of products and services that Dell offers in the Mobility space around connected devices, BYOD solutions and enabling software,” Ms. Pierce said.
“You may have seen that Dell recently uncovered the challenges posed by the deployment of mobile devices in a recent third-party study of IT professionals in the healthcare and education space that Dell commissioned in conjunction with the launch of the Latitude 10 Enhanced Security, Dell’s latest addition to the Latitude family of devices,” she said.
“Because of Dell Services’ expertise and deep relationships with customers, and because IT professionals seek guidance for managing their employee devices and implementing mobile strategies, Dell’s mobility services is a logical step in our transformation to provide comprehensive end-to-end solutions.”
