Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has announced that it’s eliminating 50 positions at its headquarters in Bentonville, AR.

KHOG-TV reported Friday that the cuts are in various departments and that the retailer says the cuts are part of adjustments it makes each year as it reviews and refocuses its operations. The employees affected by cuts have been invited to apply for other positions within the company.

The retail giant last month had also announced a series of restructuring moves and departures amid the top ranks.

While some of these cuts are indeed par for the course for this time of year at Wal-Mart Stores, the retailer is also in the midst of what it’s calling its “Next Generation Work Streams.” Look for more to come this year out of the retailer’s omnichannel and e-commerce strategy, as well as its tech side.
