Oh, Canada! can be more like woe, Canada! for American retailers, which often don’t have a grip on the logistical, regulatory, and language differences there. Wal-Mart Canada and Lowe’s are both entrenched in the country, but have also both seen sales suffer there in recent years. These acquisitions are not huge, and it likely a less expensive way for the retailers to expand.
