Dive Insight:
Lululemon may be ready to launch a digital push with the hire of former Target executive Alan Wizemann as its new vice president of guest experience and digital product management.
In its first year, Cartwheel encouraged users to visit Target more often and spend more on each visit, according to executives. “It gives Target a much larger and more frequent mobile application user base than almost any other retailer,” Erich Joachimsthaler, founder and CEO of Vivaldi Partners Group, told Digiday.
Wizemann will develop content and community in support of the Lululemon brand, including omnichannel integrations such as in-store functions for the company’s mobile apps. Lululemon is likely looking to drive foot traffic to stores to keep the “athleisure” trend it helped create strong.
