Overstock.com strengthens holiday mobile strategy with iPad app
The O.co iPad app carries the same product selection that is available on the company’s Web site. The app is available for free download in Apple’s App Store.
“So many consumers are shopping through their iPad’s because it is easy and convenient,” said Sam Peterson, senior vice president of marketing at Overstock.com, Salt Lake City, UT.
“We want shopping on Overstock.com to be easy and convenient,” he said. “Our new O.co iPad app lets customers shop on the go and from the convenience of their iPad.
“One great feature of the app is that it allows customers to easily share great deals they find with their friends through Facebook and Twitter.”
Overstock.com offers customers an opportunity to shop for bargains conveniently, while offering its suppliers an alternative inventory distribution channel.

Users can filter their search results by different categories such as top sellers, price and new arrivals.
Consumers can search for products via the app
Consumers can also view review ratings to see what others are saying about certain products.
The app features a pinch and zoom functionality and lets consumers swipe left, right and up and down.
The O.co app also includes a daily Lott-O game that lets consumers vie for a chance to win exclusive discounts towards their purchases.
“We have seen a significant amount of traffic coming through the iPad, so it made sense to develop an app dedicated to the iPad customer,” Mr. Peterson said.
Word of mouth
The company is promoting the new app through its homepage.
Additionally, Overstock.com is using social media such as Facebook and Twitter to get consumers to download the app.
“Our mission is to save people money and the Overstock.com iPad app is just another way that we do that,” Mr. Peterson said.
“Shoppers will have access to the thousands of great deals we carry on a wide variety of products,” he said. “Customers will also have access to Overstock.com’s nationally ranked customer care team.”
